The initial construction will be completed during the summer of 1998. The facility will have the capacity to serve 200 campers per week and consists of:
  1. 17 sleeping cabins capable of housing ten campers each

  2. A shower and bath facility providing separate accomodations

  3. One dispensary with full-utility service, two treatment rooms, two isolation rooms, a staff sleeping room, and a locked drug and serum storage room

  4. The Main Lodge building has a full kitchen. A second floor has sleeping accomodations for kitchen and general counselor staff and a small meeting room

  5. Construction of the heated swimming pool and support buildings was completed early in the 1997 camping season

  6. The Activity Field is an open multi-purpose area with a beach volleyball court and space for field sports

  7. The Arts and Crafts Building will be under construction in 1997 and will be completed in 1998. It will be similar in size to a sleeping cabin

Future plans include winterization of all buildings, therapy pools, a cross-country ski trail, and construction of a caretaker's cabin.

The Utah Elks Association and the Utah Ladies of Elks have been major sponsors of this project. Each Elks Lodge in Utah constructed a sleeping cabin. The Utah Ladies of Elks funded the building of the dispensary and have continued to donate to the Camp each year. The project has also received support from charitable foundations such as the George S and Delores Dore Eccles Foundation and many, many businesses. The Camp Wapiti Board of Directors are actively contacting businesses, civic organizations, and charitable foundations for assistance.
