The Elks offer scholarships to graduating seniors through the Elks National Foundation's Most Valuable Student Program, Handicapped Scholarships, and Eagle Scout Scholarships.
See the MVS Workshop. The Utah Elks offer additional Scholarships for Alternative High School Students, a Vocational Grant and for Handicapped High School Students .
They also have constructed a camp in Settlement Canyon, Tooele County, for medically challenged youth - "Camp Wapiti." See the 2003 Fund Raiser for Camp Wapiti
They conduct Americanism Programs, including a public observance of Flag Day (a program sponsored by the Elks and adopted by the US Government).
They provide community and civic service programs in their communities. see the Slug a Bug Truck and Fifth Wheel Trailer! They are a proud sponsor of Drug Awarness Programs and work in cooperation with PRIDE. They also have Student/Youth of the Month/Year Programs, Newspaper Carrier Recognition Program, Citizen of the Year Programs, and a host of other worthwile programs. Membership is restricted to American citizens of good moral character that have been proposed by a member in good standing. This notwithstanding, the Elks are a family organization with many family programs that include the whole family.
The Elks have fun too, look at the Park City Annual BBQ!
The ladies of male Elk members organize in their own sororities that associate with the Elks' Lodges. These organizations, such as the Emblem Club, Ladies of Elks (LOE) and DOES, are normally recognized auxilliary organizations by the Lodges. In Utah, every Lodge has a Ladies of Elks [LOE] and the Golden Spike Lodge also has Ogden Does Drove #27.
For further information, contact any of the State Officers above or the nearest Elk's Lodge.
The Elks and the Utah Elks support the Citizens' Flag
Alliance and urge you to contact your Senators and urge them to vote for this resolution.
